Detroit Dog Rescue began to address the issue of stray dogs in the city of Detroit. Detroit Dog Rescue is the first no-kill animal shelter in Detroit. DDR has made history because they are the first rescue center in the City of Detroit to partner with Detroit Animal Care. Since 2015 they have continued to transfer dogs to DDR’s care from the city of Detroit. Detroit Dog Rescue focuses on raising awareness of the mounting homeless and stray dog problem in Detroit, along with advocating for humane rescue alternatives such as no-kill sheltering, foster care and adoptions, pet identification and healthy pet population control through spay and neutering. We are excited to be partnering with DDR this year because of all the great things they do for the local community!
